The Emphasis of the workshop is about "playing together" and all the details
that need to be done in "playing together", such as:

– The Form (Theme-Interpretation, Chords, Time)
– Accompaniment (accompaniment when playing the theme, and improvisation)
– Instrument Function in Ensemble
– Improvisation (analyzing the song's chords, scales, modes)
– Communication (interaction between musician in the ensemble)
– Brief History of the Music Style

THE PROFILE

*Julian Abraham Marantika (Piano)*

Julian whom also known as Joy started learning the Piano on the age of 14.
He studied Classical Piano from Getih Indra Sunaryo. In Senior High School
Joy was active in the School Band playing the Electric Bass. He continue to
play in the Band through to University where he studied Public Relation
until he graduate. In 2001 Joy studied with Benny Likumahuwa for Music
Theory and Saxophone. In 2002 Joy took his first Jazz Piano lesson from Riza
Arshad, and at the same year he also learn from Krisna Balagita then
continue his lesson at Farabi Music School.

In 2003 Joy join Institut Musik Daya Indonesia for Preparatory Program. In
2004 Joy continue his study to the Degree program. He graduated from
Institut Musik Daya Indonesia in 2007 holding Bachelor of Music in
Performance.

He has performed in several major events such as Java Jazz Festival in 2007
and 2008, Pasar Jazz 2006 with New Conservative performing original
composition, Jazz Goes to Campus 2006 accompanying Ruth Sahanaya in Ricki
Lionardi and Friends. Joy also performed in TVRI "Jazz Club with a Trio. He
did a recording session in "Jazz Masa Kini" a compilation CD by Aksara
Records. Joy was in Ricki Lionardi Big band for a recording session for Ruth
Sahanaya Christmas Album in 2006. Joy also filled in a Soundtrack of "Dunia
Mereka" in 2005.

*Nikita Jeffrey Dompas (Electric Guitar)*
Nikita began his serious guitar lesson at the age of 17 when he took his
first jazz guitar lesson from Oele Patiselano and later on with Ahmad Ananda
in Jakarta. At age 20, he attended Tjut Nyak Deviana Daudsjah's Jazz
Workshop "Jazz dan Anda" at The Regent Hotel, Jakarta (2001). On the age of
22, he enrolled at Institut Musik Daya Indonesia founded by Tjut Nyak
Deviana Daudsjah for Preparatory and Degree Program and started to play
Electric Guitar and study with Guenter Weiss – German Music Professor.
Nikita also studied with numbers of foreign guitarist such as: Hideaki
Tokunaga (Japan), John Stowell (USA) and Max Zentawer (Germany); Nikita also
studied classical guitar with Seno Aji Nugroho.

Nikita has performed and recorded with numbers of musicians and singers,
including Opus 3 Big Band, Ricky Lionardi Big Band, IMDI Ensemble, The Daya
Big Band conducted by Tjut Nyak Deviana Daudsjah and Sri Aksana Sjuman,
Indra Lesmana (Reborn & Rumah Ketujuh Big Band), Rieka Roslan, Andien, Jamie
Aditya, Gerald Albright, Lenny Castro, Peter Scherr, and many more.

Nikita performs multifarious types of music from Jazz to Rock and Roll.
Nikita has performed in a lot of local Jazz Festival. Nikita continues to
perform original music with his own group Tomorrow People Ensemble, at Bali
Jazz, Nusa Dua Jazz Festival, Indonesia Open Jazz, Java Jazz, and many more.

In 2005, he attended the 15th Annual International Association of School of
Jazz (IASJ) in Krakow, hosted by Krakow School of Jazz Contemporary Music
from July 3rd – 9th 2005. And recorded a live concert CD at Radio Kracow
issued by IASJ.

*Yudo Nugroho Doni Sundjoyo (Contra Bass)*
Born in Jakarta, 1981. Doni began his musical activity at the age of 15 when
he took his first bass guitar lesson in Jakarta. At 18, he attended Tjut
Nyak Deviana Daudsjah's Jazz Workshop "Jazz dan Anda" at The Regent Hotel,
Jakarta (1999 – 2000). And at 20, he enrolled at Institut Musik Daya
Indonesia founded by Tjut Nyak Deviana Daudsjah for Preparatory and Degree
Programm and started to play Contra Bass and study with Karoline Hoefler –
German Music Professor and one of the noted female Jazz Bassists in Europe.

In 1999 and 2000, he was the 3rd Champion of Jazz Goes To Campus (JGTC)
contest. Two years later, he performed in the Indonesia Open Jazz and
Anniversary of Indonesia Independence Day at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta. Doni
also did a recording session with Idang Rasjidi on Idang's recording album
"Live at Four Season" (2004).

In 2005 Doni attended the 15th Annual International Association of School of
Jazz (IASJ) in Krakow, hosted by Krakow School of Jazz Contemporary Music
from July 3rd – 9th.

Doni first acting career was in a movie called "Dunia Mereka" in 2005.

*Titi Handayani Sjuman (Drums)*

Born in Jakarta on February 1981. Titi began her drums lesson with Gilang
Ramadhan, Edy Syahroni, Samboedy, Taufan Goenarso, and Aksan Sjuman in 1999.
In 2001 she attended Tjut Nyak Deviana Daudsjah's jazz workshop "Jazz dan
Anda" at the Regent hotel, Jakarta. Then she enrolled at Institut Musik Daya
Indonesia for Degree Program. She studied and join the workshop of Ad
Colleen (Netherland); Bill Heid Trio (USA); Joona Toivanen Trio (Finland);
Soesja Citroen (Netherland); Joe Rosenberg (USA); Rogerio Botter Maio
Quartet (Brazil); Carolla Grey, Gunther Weisz & Caroline Hoefler (Germany);
Hideaki Tokunaga & Masako Hammamura (Japan).

Titi has performed in many major events, such as Konser Kemerdekaan
Indonesia at JW Mariot Jakarta at 2002, Indonesia Open Jazz, International
Java Jazz Festival 2004 and 2005, Jazz Goes to Campus, Institut Musik Daya
Indonesia Vocals Night at Erasmus Huis, Starbucks at regular session.

Last year Titi tries something different for her career. She tried acting
for a movie "Mereka Bilang Saya Monyet" by Djenar Maesa Ayu. It was a big
succes for her acting career, it wun her "The Best New Comer Actress" at
Indonesian Movie Award 2008.

*Philippe Ciminato (Percussions)*

From Nice, France, Philippe Ciminato has traveled the world extensively, to
Europe, the Caribbean Islands, Africa, South East Asia, China and Australia,
both as student and performer.

He started playing in high-school bands and has studied Latin percussions
with Cuban master Javier Campos Martinez and Colombians Faiser J.Flores and
Alonso Gonzales.

In 1996 he joined the Brazilian percussion ensemble La Batucada "Bosinaires
de Nissa". Since, as an independent musician, he has played in concerts,
festivals and workshops with internationally acclaimed Steve Thornton, Lenny
Castro, Horacio "El Negro" Hernandez, Gerald Albright, Salena Jones, Joe
Rosenberg, Rashidi Pembe, Antonio Santoro, "Tony" Cintron, John Hondorp, and
many other wonderful musicians who always inspire and transmit wonderful
energy through the art of music.

Philippe is now based in Jakarta-Indonesia where he is completing his Master
of Music degree program under the tuition of the great Prof. Tjut Nyak
Deviana Daudsjah. He also teaches privately and at the Institut Musik Daya
Indonesia (IMDI).

On the live scene, performances include with Rieka Roeslan & the
Troubadours, Aksan Sjuman, Indra Lesmana, Dwiki Dharmawan Orchestra,
Humania, Krisdayanti, Ruth Sahanaya, Sujiwo Tejo, Park Drive, Nayamul, Nita
Aartsen… also with DJ's and on TV programs.

Philippe has formed a couple of band/projects such Rumbateria and Sixth
Element. He is currently recording the first album of his new group TAO
KOMBO, due for release soon.

While sharing his love, knowledge and experience of the Latin percussions,
Philippe keeps studying the national treasures of Indonesian arts and
believes in the wonderful future of music in this era of globalization and
universality.
